Introduction

A bride-to-be would do well to ask herself, “Can my sweetheart manage money? Does he know how to live within his means?” These are more important questions than, “Can he earn a lot of money?” Financial peace of mind is not determined by how much we make, but is dependent upon how much we spend.
Marvin J. Ashton, One for the Money

I doubt that Julianne asked herself this question, which is fortunate for me. Realizing when we got married that neither of us knew much about finances, we made it a goal to learn more about using money wisely.

The March 2009 Edition of the Ensign spurred us to begin posting the interesting facts and advice that we find about self reliance and family finance here. It will certainly be useful to us to gather it in one place, and we hope that perhaps others will also find some good ideas here.

We're most interested in finding ways to keep finances from taking over our lives, so that we can focus on more important things. We won't be searching for ways to get rich, or to find the best deals, but rather on always Having Sufficient.
